Minaean Secures Contract To Construct Hostel & Library In Valsad For Government Of Gujarat, India
Vancouver, BC, Canada –February 2, 2010– Minaean International Corp. (TSX Venture Exchange: MIB; Berlin and Frankfurt Stock Exchanges: NJA), a Canadian-based developer of alternative building technologies using light-gauge steel, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Minaean Habitat India Pvt. Ltd. (“MHI”), has successfully secured a contract for the turnkey design and construction of the hostel and library for a new medical college campus in Valsad, Gujarat, India.
The new medical college has been sanctioned by the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat. The administration plans to inaugurate the college this year and take its first batch of MBBS students for the academic year 2010-2011, during September. There is a requirement for a Hostel and Library building for the first year which will be constructed using pre-engineered light gauge steel structures. The total area of construction for this project is approximately 24,000 sq. feet and the hostel will accommodate over 120 students. The contract represents revenue of over CAD$ 1.04 million for MHI. The award of this contract is an indication of the country opening its doors to innovative quick build construction solutions.
This contract is significant as it gives the Company an opportunity to once again successfully showcase its ‘Artisan Quik Build’ light gauge steel construction system in the Indian market. The Company had initially introduced the Artisan system during 2001 in wake of the Gujarat earthquake as a means to fulfill the need for a cost efficient and quick construction system. In time, and with the popularity of MHI’s light gauge steel solutions in the commercial sector (such as Gas Retail Outlets and ATM Kiosks), businesses and governments have begun to take notice of the advantages of using Minaean’s construction system. It can be deployed to meet any design requirements to construct super-structures of buildings rapidly, cost effectively and in an environmentally sustainable manner.
Hari Varshney, Chairman of Minaean, who recently accompanied Prime Minister Stephen Harper on his trip to India, commented, “This is a great step for MHI to showcase to the Indian government departments the huge benefits of using Artisan as a construction platform. Artisan was our first innovation and we have an abundance of experience in constructing such structures. We fully anticipate the success from this project to translate into many more orders and enquiries in the near future.”
