Dr. Gupta of BCIT receives Engage Grant to partner with Minaean for the Development of Sustainable Cellular Light-Weight Concrete

February 11, 2011

Vancouver, BC, Canada – Minaean International Corp. (MIC), a Canadian-based developer of alternative building technologies using light-gauge steel (“LGS”), listed on TSX Venture Exchange: MIB; Berlin and Frankfurt Stock Exchanges: NJA, as an amendment and further to its news release dated January 13th, 2011, is pleased to announce that British Columbia Institute of Technology’s Department of Civil Engineering’s, Dr. Rishi Gupta, has received a grant from Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) to work with Minaean to research and develop a Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) material that proves to be more cost-effective than any cement based product in the market today. BCIT will work closely with Minaean’s Canadian Subsidiary, Minaean Building Structures Inc. in the development of this product in their laboratories and conduct the necessary trials locally before commercializing. The innovation of this cost-effective cement based product is to be used as an infill material for Minaean’s LGS wall panels, creating a composite system, trade marked “Artisan Composite”. All Intellectual Property Rights resulting from this project will be owned by Minaean Building Structures Inc. The development of this product will enable Minaean to meet the mindset of the masses and penetrate the low and mid income housing market segment that is in dire need of cost effective quick-build construction systems. Minaean hopes to accomplish a significant milestone in substantially increasing its market share in Canada, India, and Global markets alike.

Minaean has identified major issues with construction on Native Reserves in Northern British Columbia, Canada. Many homes quickly develop mould and are attacked by termites due to the moisture issues, which can cause major health and social challenges for the residents. Minaean hopes the innovation of this new CLC product can be a solution to the above mentioned challenges and will create a better living environment for the Northern communities.

India’s needs of 26 million homes for the “economically weaker section of society” and millions more for the mid income segment is in dire need of Minaean’s ‘Quik Build’ construction system which is acceptable to the masses. Traditionally, Asians accustomed to living in the conventional brick and mortar houses need to have a concrete feel; the introduction of a cost effective CLC would enable Minaean to win major residential construction contracts using our “Artisan Quik-Build” construction system throughout the Indian sub-continent.

With experience having executed ‘affordable housing’ projects, Minaean is currently working with the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) to assist them with the affordable housing contracts in Ghana. Having a low cost product in CLC, which addresses problems being faced by the local builders and construction authorities, Minaean is sure to be able to attain a significant market share in another rapidly developing nation.
